Leisure Tea and Coffee is a popular bubble tea and hang out place on Alexandra Road. The outside never looked particularly interesting and it just never stood out to me. It’s located in a corner next to Old Buddies Seafood Restaurant. The inside is long and narrow with wooden chairs and tables. The counter where the staff make the food and drinks is adorned with many porcelain teacups. The menu has sweet desserts like crepes, blueberry pie, scones and the cake of the day as well as savoury snacks, sandwiches and waffles.
We all shared the Fresh Mango Icy which was shaved ice with mango and condensed milk. I love condensed milk and mango so this was the perfect combination and desserts are tastier with condensed milk! My friends said the portion seemed smaller than before though. The portion was still good for sharing between 2-3 people.
We also ordered the Sweet Soup and you can choose 2 types of filling for $5.25 or 3 for 5.75. We had the taro pearls and the tofu pudding. I’ve never had taro pearls before so I wasn’t sure what they were but it turns out they’re like mochi balls but made with taro! Each chewy ball had a small piece of taro in it. As an Asian dessert the sweet soup was actually not that sweet to me. In fact, after eating the shaved ice first the sweet soup barely had an taste in comparison and our tongues were too cold to taste it. The tofu pudding was nice and smooth though.
Unfortunately we did have one miss here… which was because I ordered the Powdered Sesame Milk Tea. I should’ve known to not order anything powdered…but I’ve had sesame milk tea before and it was good so I thought I’d give it a try here. It tasted super watery and flavourless and like they just added sesame powder into the drink. They should’ve sweetened it more. Maybe I should’ve sent it back… Do not get this!!!
By the time we left around 9:30pm there was a line up at the door. I think this could be my new snack/hangout joint!
