Manna Sushi opened on W2nd and Ontario a few months ago but I never got around to blogging about it. It is pretty much the only sushi place around besides Aqua Sushi and Juice Bar which focuses on healthy food and makes their sushi with brown rice. The inside of the restaurant was pretty spacious.
This was a half order of the Salmon Sashimi (6pcs). It was fresh and they cut it in an interesting way that I can’t describe here but it’s like the ends were a bit thinner? Or they were trying to cheap out on us…
Next we had the Salmon and Avocado roll and the Spicy Chopped Scallop roll. The salmon and avocado roll was typical but the sauce for the spicy chopped scallop roll was super addicting. It was a combination of sweet and spicy and it was addictive!
This was the Oyster Motoyaki and it wasn’t what I was expecting. There was a bed of soba noodles underneath all the cheese and there were some onions and mushrooms mixed in with the oyster. It was tasty and cheesy but also super oily! There also wasn’t much oyster so I would’t get this again.
Finally we had the Volcano roll! It actually came with it’s own flame in the middle which was pretty cool! The flame eventually went out by itself after a few minutes so no need to worry that you’ll burn yourself! This had spicy tuna on top with the same spicy sauce as the chopped scallop roll and some shrimp tempura inside.
The sushi and pricing were not bad and since it’s the only sushi place around they do get a lot of lunch traffic. It was a bit quiet for the weekend and there was only one server running around but she was friendly. After all the new buildings in Olympic Village are completed they’ll probably get more traffic.
PS. I’m getting a new phone soon maybe that will help with the pictures haha sorry!
