Purebread Bakery or Pure Heaven to Me

Purebread bakery has opened up in Gastown around the corner from Meat & Bread! Once you walk in the spread of goodies on the counter is unbelievably enticing. It took me ages to decide on something. It’s a feast for the eyes and the stomach. See pictures below! I had such a hard time deciding that I had to ask the server for recommendations. I believe she said that the salted caramel was her favourite and the Nutella brioche was also good. EVERYTHING LOOKED GOOD. Unless you don’t like sweets. Then you should really stop reading this now.

Everything was about $3.50 and it looked sooo gooooood!!! There are so many things I need to try I need to bring 10 friends next time. Or just have a party there.

So I knew that brownies are pretty rich and heavy but I still really wanted one and they had like 3 or 4 different kinds. I went with the Raspberry Cheesecake Brownie and it was rich and decadent as expected. Also very big! It had a nice blend of light tartness and smooth fudginess and the cheesecake mixed in really well. It was not possible to finish this in one go!

We also had the Lemon Sugar Bun as well. I really wanted something lemony and I was debating between the lemon crumble bar and the lemon bar which are different (one has no crumble). I don’t think I’ve had a sugar bun before but it kind of tasted like a light fluffy buttery moist croissant with sugar on the outside. The lemon filling was on point! Probably slightly more on the tart side but I have a high tolerance for sour stuff. But hey it’s lemon, what did you expect? If you love lemon baked goods you really need this!

They also had a Nutella Sugar Bun which I’m sure is equally delicious! I’m pretty sure I’d be here everyday if I could… their selection is extensive!

I see a trip to Purebread in my near future. 8) Very near.

Ok I should stop raving about it since I may be giving people unrealistically high expectations …
