For our annual company Christmas dinner, we decided to go for the buffet at Cafe Pacifica at the Pan Pacific Hotel. *I’m so fancy* haha okay just kidding but this is as fancy as my life gets.
We were seated by the windows which was nice except we were blocked by one of the “white sails” so we couldn’t see much beyond that but the space is nice with the floor to ceiling windows letting in lots of light. The restaurant is located on the second floor and the lunch buffet was $58/person. There were only 4 weekdays to choose from for this buffet so it was mostly catered towards company lunches. Needless to say, I was super excited! Also it’s free! Bwahaha Each person also received one of those festive cracker things where you pull it and a small gift pops out. I ended up with a green plastic carabiner keychain and it will probably sit around until I throw it out.
Mostly this will be a picture post since I can’t remember the super long food descriptions and I was busy pigging out … so without further ado!
Some sort of chocolate mousse cake. Cookies on the top tray.
Creme brule and black forest trifle?
Stollen and mince meat tarts?
Mango cheesecake, cupcakes, some kind of tart with raspberries, gingerbread madeleine
Not sure what the thing on top was… the yule log was nice and chocolatey and creamy and smooth. Ended up being my favourite dessert.
Gingerbread house for display only.
Assortment of cheese.
Dijon herb crusted Canadian Angus beef striploin. This had a nice beef flavour but I just didn’t like it as much as the pork rack.
Turkey stuffed with cranberries and apricot. Was not really interested in this so didn’t try it.
My favourite meat of the day. Pesto marinated pork rack! I love pesto and the pork was tender and fatty but my next piece was a bit more dry.
Cheesy potato gratin. Yummy and cheesy!
Pumpkin and goat cheese stuffed ravioli. Really smooth filling.
Crispy crusted filet of BC snapper. Not overcooked and still flaky!
Black pepper crusted sirloin of lamb. Not too chewy, slight gamey flavour.
Ok there are more pictures of salads and veggies but I decided not to upload them since they weren’t as interesting. I did like the orzo salad and the smoked salmon was really good but my picture was ugly since the plate was almost empty by the time I took a picture.
I’ve actually never been to a hotel buffet in Vancouver before so I have nothing to compare it to. The last buffet I had was probably at the Tulalip Casino next to the Seattle Premium outlets and that was a while ago too. It was also wayyyy cheaper of course. On the other hand, I don’t eat much so buffets are a rip off for me.
My experience was good and I managed to try pretty much everything but I think I expected the selection to be a tiny bit better… or I had high expectations and totally hyped it up but hey what do I know?
