I heard really good things about brunch at the Oakwood and I love brunch so I had to check it out. I thought they would be really busy on a Sunday afternoon but they were not which is great since they don’t accept reservations for brunch!
The Braised Beef Shank was served with white bean and tomato cassoulet, sous vide eggs, mixed greens with maple sherry vinaigrette and toasted garlic bread crumbs. All the components in this dish were quite soft but every bite was good! The beef shank was superbly soft and braised so that it was almost melted down which allowed it to take in the flavours of the tomato cassoulet. I also enjoyed the refreshing vinaigrette on the mixed greens.
I saw the person beside me had the Crispy Pork Belly, fried polenta, and cheddar scrambled eggs with corn salsa and it looked good so I decided to get it too. Pretty much everything looked good!
I loved all the elements in this dish and the corn salsa was really tasty! It was amazing how adding cheddar to your scrambled eggs could take them to the next level and the crispy polenta remained quite crispy on the outside while being soft on the inside. I did find the pork belly to be dry and not as fatty as I expected. It was almost like bacon in a way but it was still pork belly so I can’t complain about it too much.
Brunch here was very enjoyable and I’m glad the potential lineup didn’t stop me this time. Pricing was also really reasonable! Still need to try brunch at Fable now… any recommendations for other awesome brunch spots?
