Frites Granville-Not Your Usual Fries

I know most people have fries as a side to their meal but for me, I like to have the fries as the main course. I saw that Frites Granville had an exciting selection of gourmet fries so I had to check it out.

Some many appetizing options like the Pad Thai fries and Okonomi fries! It’s nice that they have pictures on the wall to help you decide (or make it harder to decide if you’re like me).

The restaurant is located on the corner of Granville and Nelson. Coincidentally, Mean Poutine is around the corner. There was only one person working when I went and they made the fries and also manned the cash register.

Since I was the only person in the restaurant, I didn’t have to wait too long for my Kimchi Frites. The fries were loaded with ground kalbi beef, kimchi, sesame seeds, green onions and gochujang sauce. This was undoubtedly a winning combo for me! The fries had the right texture and it was savoury and slightly spicy. I really liked the sauce!

There was clearly not enough kimchi but the whole thing was still delicious. It is a bit expensive for just fries ($8.99) but it was like a meal size and they have flavours not available at other poutine places. In hindsight, I probably think everything is “a bit expensive”… I’m just poor and I eat out too much! #foodbloggerproblems

In addition to gourmet fries, they also serve double-layered poutine, waffle sandwiches and Belgian fries with a dipping sauce. This looks like a great late-night place too! They’re open till 12am and till 4am on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
