Sweet Obsessions has been on my list of dessert cafes to visit for a long time but I never really go to that area (16th and MacDonald Street) and it’s not that convenient to bus there either. Actually that area just reminds me of when I had to take my road test because ICBC is nearby.
When my friend said she felt like eating cake for dessert, I suggested this place and it did not disappoint.
We came after dinner and we were lucky to get the last table! As with most cafes, seating is limited.
We took turns ogling the display case of tantalizing cakes and debated what to get because it was potentially life-changing. They have individual sized cakes, cakes by the slice, tarts, flans and whole cakes for sale.
We settled on the Chilled Banana Crepe Cake, White Chocolate Raspberry Mousse Cake and the Bittersweet Chocolate Buttercream Cake.
The chilled banana crepe cake was filled with a light and smooth banana flavoured cream and the crepe layer had a nice chew to it. We found that the white chocolate raspberry mousse had a great texture was well balanced between fruity and sweet. Finally, the bittersweet chocolate buttercream cake was moist yet chocolatey as expected.
In addition to the cakes, we also ordered the Lemon Mango Tango tea to share. The tangy fruity flavours were very refreshing after the cakes!
I have many more cakes to try and I’m definitely coming back!
