My co-worker told me about this sandwich that he was really passionate about from O’Love Bistro. O’Love is a Mediterranean/Greek inspired bistro tucked away on the side/back of Bentall 1 . I would’ve never found this place if I wasn’t looking for it. I love how the name is like a play on words with “olive”.
The interior is bigger than I expected. They serve an array of sandwiches, burgers, salads and Greek food like calamari, spanakopita, chicken souvlaki etc.
The special of the day can be found on a chalkboard at the front counter.
The sandwich I had to try was the Beautiful Bocconcini Baguette served with bocconcini, spicy capicollo, house pesto, fresh and sundried tomato and spinach, and drizzled with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and cracked black pepper. There was also a banana pepper on the side.
I was surprised that the baguette was perfectly toasted so that the outside so that it was crunchy when you bit into it but the inside was warm, chewy and soft at the same time. I enjoyed the savoury combination of pesto and tomato with the bocconcini and capicollo. The balsamic vinegar also gave it another dimension of flavour. For $11, this was a very filling sandwich. This seems to be a good lunch spot for people who work in the area as well as I saw a lot of takeout orders while I was there.
