Pink Elephant Thai-Marine Gateway

My friend and I watched Captain America: Civil War at the new theatre at Marine Gateway and needed to get some food after so we went to Pink Elephant Thai.

This is their second location with the first one downtown on Alberni Street. I’ve never been to that location before but I’ve seen pictures of how pink it is inside (e.g. pink walls, pink chairs etc.)! In contrast, the Marine Gateway location is not very pink at all. I’ve always seen a lot of ads from Pink Elephant Thai so I was interested in trying them out.Pink Elephant Thai-Marine Gateway

Since we weren’t super hungry, we decided to get an appy and noodles to share. We actually did not order the Pad Thai with Beef because we wanted to try something new but they server accidentally brought it to our table and we were like “well we don’t want to wait for a new order so we’ll just eat it!”. After we tried some the server realized her mistake and took it away haha

The Pad Thai is made of stir fried rice noodles in tamarind sauce with ground peanuts, bean sprouts, green onions, tofu and egg. It tasted pretty standard to me and wasn’t overly sweet. However, the beef was really dry and chewy.

The dish we actually ordered was the Pad Kee Mao with minced meat, bell peppers, green onion, Thai chili, green beans and fresh basil. The meat was horribly dry!!! Good thing it was minced already… the noodles were equally atrocious because they were dry and clumped together and it was incredibly hard to separate! Not sure what happened here… but at least we tried the Pad Thai first.

The best dish we had that night was the Thai Chili Basil Hot Wings. These were so flavourful and addictive! I also really liked the add flavour from the basil and the chilies had just the right amount of spice! Wish we had more of these! The sauce it came with was a little strange though, it was spicy but also very acidic at the same time. It didn’t seem to compliment the chicken wings.

Overall it was not exactly the best experience here and I probably wouldn’t come back unless it was out of convenience.
