My first time hiking Quarry Rock in Deep Cove was last year and I was glad that it was easy! I’m not much of a hiking person actually but I do want a slight challenge and some exercise so it’s the perfect hike for me! Also, I can use it as an excuse to go eat after! We went over the BC Day long weekend and surprisingly it wasn’t too crowded. I arrived at 10am and we came back down around 12pm after sitting at the top for a bit.
We didn’t plan where to eat beforehand and came across Bluhouse Market & Cafe. Since it looked cute and not too busy, we just decided to go for it.
They focus on locally sourced, organic, sustainable, ethically grown food and it’s all vegetarian (except for the salmon crepe).
The crepes sound really good and seem to be popular here.
I wanted something a bit more substantial so I ordered a Spinach Wrap with mixed vegetables, basmati rice and curry spices. All wraps are served with a side of mango chutney. My order was forgotten though so it came last. However, it tasted really good despite looking really simple. It was piping hot from the panini press and I loved the flavourful curry spices in this. I also put mango chutney on every bite! Might as well use it up right? The wrap is not big though so if you eat a lot it probably won’t be enough for you.
I didn’t try the following items. I believe this was the Glow Smoothie with banana, strawberry, apple/pear, ginger and lemon.
Zuke Bowl with raw zucchini noodles, pesto, tomato, greens, and hemp seeds. This is prepared already and can be grabbed from their fridge on the side.
This was the Peaches and Cream Crepe with peaches, fromage frais, and maple syrup.
This place was really cute and has a small market in the back where you can buy some random kitchen stuff. Bluhouse also grows some produce in the back as well around their patio area. Glad we stopped by here!
It was cloudy the day we went but warmed up in the afternoon.
