As I was researching where to eat in Sydney (because that was obviously more important than sightseeing), I noticed that they had so many more brunch places! There are cafes that are just focused on brunch and lunch and they close at night. We need more all day brunch!!! We need to start a petition!!! AHHHHHHHHHH
Foodcraft Espresso and Bakery is known for their famous Tella Ball Shakes and the Nutella one took over the internet last year. The “Tella Ball” is basically a filled doughnut. They are located on the main floor of an apartment complex. They have lots of outdoor seating available but on the day I went, it was super windy.
Some of their baked goods on display! I noticed that if you do take away it’s a dollar cheaper. Interesting…
The Nutella Tella Balls Shake was so good! I love how they give you a bendy straw as well because I haven’t seen one in ages! It was slightly frothy, not too thick or sweet and most importantly, had lots of Nutella flavour! I had to remove the straw and clean out the Nutella at the end before I could drink it though.
The drink was AUD $10 so it’s quite pricey but if you think of the drink as $6.50 and the doughnut as $3.50 then it’s not so bad. It’s pretty much a dessert on it’s own! They also have salted caramel, strawberry and vanilla flavours. If you go too late though they may run out of the tella balls but they can still make you a regular milkshake.
The doughnut was generously stuffed with Nutella and rolled in sugar. It was a touch on the dense side for me but still delish!
The Berner Sausage Burger is filled with cheese and wrapped in bacon. I was expecting a brioche burger bun based on the description but it was more like a sandwich. It was very savoury and delicious! Once again, we have thick cut fries and this time they are served with mayo.
As for myself, I finally decided on the Foodcraft Waffles with strawberries, banana, vanilla ice cream and chocolate sauce. I believe the waffles are liege waffles and they were thick but chewy and soft with hints of sugar inside. SO GOOD! I also liked how the ice cream was very cold and did not melt too fast while not being difficult to eat either. It was the perfect brunch dish for me.
However, there were so many other options that seemed equally delicious like the Nutella pancakes, pulled pork burger, the sandwiches I saw at the next table or the smashed avocado on toast. Avocado on toast is served at every brunch place! Basically stuff on toast seems popular. Also, sometimes burgers are not served with sides, so if you see a really cheap burger it probably doesn’t come with fries.
I was really pleased with brunch here and I would definitely recommend you check out Foodcraft Espresso and Bakery!
