Did you know there’s a food holiday for every day of the year? Sadly there aren’t enough restaurants that celebrate them or it would be too costly. For National Cheesecake Day this year (July 28th), Trees Organic Coffee offered cheesecakes for 50% off!
They are voted Vancouver’s best cheesecake and they have a few locations around Vancouver. I went to the one on Granville Street beside Waterfront station. I love discounts/freebies (especially when it comes to food) and it’s close to where I work so I had to go! I thought there would be some crazy line ups but it was pretty tame. The wait was about 15 minutes or so. This is in contrast to that time I waited for an hour at IHOP for National Pancake Day (NEVER AGAIN).
Some flavours they have include the Chocoholic, Blueberry, New York and Mocha cheesecake. Sometimes they have new seasonal flavours to add to their rotation (e.g. Oreo, Mango).
I chose the Maple Walnut Cheesecake and brought it back to my office to eat. The discounted price is $3.95 which is great for such a big piece of cake! I haven’t had their cheesecake in a long time and forgot how creamy and smooth it was! There was a mild maple flavour to it and a good smattering of chopped walnuts sprinkled on top and a few through out the cheesecake. I thought the crust could’ve been less grainy and crumbly but otherwise it was great! Also, the back edge (where it would be against the pan while baking) was a bit thicker and chewier.
I’m not sure if Trees Organic Coffee had this promotion before because I’ve never heard about it but I hope they keep doing it!
