Happy Halloween! Can’t wait for the on sale candy tomorrow! I’ve seen Feastro the Rolling Bistro truck around the Coal Harbour area and finally decided to try it. Specifically, their dirty fries caught my eye. Feastro serves tacos, sandwiches and some sides.
There’s a chalkboard with the daily soup and special on the side of the truck. I’ve seen them parked by the Olympic Cauldron before and now they seem to have moved to the corner of Burrard and Pender.
I went for the Dirty Fries which features Kennebec fries smothered with pulled pork, topped with chipotle aioli, housemade BBQ sauce, lemon garlic aioli, fresh salsa and pickled jalapenos. The fries are available as an individual size or a share size. I went with the individual size ($7) and the portion was pretty big for an individual! It was piled high with ingredients and it takes a while before you get to the fries. I loved the sweetness from the BBQ sauce on the stringy pulled pork and the freshness from the salsa on top. Seasoned with possibly a cajun-like mixture, the fries were perfectly crisp, just the way I like them.
The only complaint I might have is that they’re too generous with the aioli. The fries were very saucy and I thought they would’ve tasted fine without all the extra sauce (and calories).
