My colleagues and I all headed over to Red Pagoda for a Friday lunch recently. Located in the Coal Harbour area, it’s slightly hidden away behind a building on Thurlow and Pender. However, it’s popular with the office lunch crowd.
I had heard great things about this Sate Peanut Noodle which comes in a mildly spicy soup and you can get it with chicken, beef or vegetables. I tried the soup from my co-worker and it was a nice mixture of creamy and peanut with a nice heat afterwards.
Most of our group ended up ordering the Lemongrass Chicken with Springroll on Vermicelli. It was amazingly delicious! I think I have to say that this is the best lemongrass chicken I’ve ever had! It was a thick piece and very moist and tender. It well marinated, full of flavour and appropriately crispy on the outside! The spring rolls were equally awesome! Furthermore, the portion was humongous! It was like an endless bowl but I somehow managed to finish it all even though I wasn’t planning to. About a third of the bowl was salad to keep things healthy. At $12.25 a bowl, this was higher priced than average (like places on Kingsway and Fraser etc.) but the quality is there with the delicious chicken and also the location is downtown as well.
If you don’t want a spring roll, you can also substitute it for a salad roll. Give Red Pagoda a try if you’re looking for a new lunch spot!
