My company had our Christmas party in Whistler this year at the Wild Wood Pacific Bistro. I was in charge of researching restaurants and we chose this one because they had the best set menu price. Wild Wood Pacific Bistro is located inside the Crystal Lodge.
We drove up on a Friday afternoon and explored Whistler Village for a bit before heading to dinner. Actually I was really hungry before dinner so I popped into Purebread for a snack first! I just couldn’t resist and had to satisfy my big sweet tooth. If you didn’t know, I’m obsessed with Purebread and I should probably do an updated post since I go there so often.
The interior is cozy and dimly lit.
This was the Wild Wood Lemonade and I’m not sure what was in it but there was barely any alcohol that I could taste. That was fine with me though since I don’t drink much.
Champagne! We had lots of drinks so it was inevitable that we would need to use the washroom a few times throughout the night. However, their washroom was out of service so we had to trek to the other side of the hotel to use another washroom.
We had a large group so we had a special 3 course set menu for $40/person. For my appetizer, I had the Wild Mixed Baby Greens Salad with tomatoes, red onions, pumpkin seeds and a citrus balsamic dressing. The salad was light and the dressing was refreshing. For my main I had the Lamb Shank with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables. I was impressed with the large portion! The meat was just falling off the bone and had some nice fatty bits to it as well. It didn’t actually have a very strong lamb flavour and I thought it had the right amount of flavour and seasoning. The potatoes were also very creamy and addictive and the roasted vegetables were full of flavour. I could’ve eaten an entire bowl of the parsnips and brussel sprouts!
For dessert, there was a choice between the New York Cheesecake topped with mixed wild berries.
Or the Apple Crumble topped with ice cream. Both options were delicious! The apple crumble was served warm and the apples had a nice cinnamon flavour to them. My manager decided that it would be a great time to make a speech over dessert and it would be rude to eat while he was talking so I was watching my ice cream slowly melt on the warm crumble the entire time. *dies inside* I prefer my ice cream cold and hard! Still great either way though. The cheesecake was not as heavy as I expected and went well with the mixed berries sauce.
We had a great experience at the Wild Wood and I thought the set menu was good value based on the options I chose. The service was also excellent as expected and drinks were always being refilled and plates were cleared quickly in preparation for the next course.
