There’s just something about a gooey warm cinnamon bun with frosting that makes me melt inside. I was aware of Grounds for Coffee from my time attending UBC but I had just never been and there was no social media hype back then. Ever since Grounds for Coffee invited some influencers to try their cinnamon buns, it put them on my radar again. Social media marketing works (on me at least)!
I think they revamped the outside of their store since it used to look a little more run down from what I remember. The inside is still very retro looking though. Seating is tight and limited so expect to take your cinnamon bun to go.
You can order a single cinnamon but or get some discounts by ordering larger quantities such as a box of 4 or 6. There are even steeper discounts if you get 13, 24 or 48+. Cinnamon bun party anyone?
This cinnamon bun truly lived up to the hype and was everything a cinnamon bun lover could dream of. First of all, it was served warm and smelled amazing. You can choose to get it with frosting or without. The bun was actually extremely soft! It had the right amount of cinnamon and sugar mixed in to create the perfect ooey gooey cinnamon bun. Is there really any other adjective you can use to describe a good cinnamon bun besides ooey gooey? There was a generous amount of cream cheese frosting crowning the cinnamon bun but it would probably taste equally delicious without it.
Hopefully I can try their seasonal flavours someimte too (e.g. pumpkin spice).
