Mamak is a popular Malaysian eatery located in Chinatown. They always have line ups outside! I didn’t get to try them on my last visit to Sydney so this time we came early to line up. The turnover rate is pretty fast though so the wait isn’t too bad.
While you wait, you can watch the chefs make roti through the window. I knew we had to order some! Read more
JapaDog has an actual restaurant at the McArthurGlen Outlet. This is probably one of the more affordable food options here if you’re looking for a quick snack.
This JapaDog store has a lot of seating and it’s located near the back corner of the outlet next to the washrooms. The menu is similar to their downtown store.
I wish we had more cafes that served brunch like this in Vancouver! And I mean all day everyday! Le Monde is a quick walk from Central Station in the Surry Hills area. Their matcha hotcakes are very insta-worthy!
We didn’t want to wait for a table so we sat at this small “bar” area at the front of the cafe. Read more
I do all my food research on Instagram so when I was looking up brunch places, I came across Cuckoo Callay. Located just outside Newtown station (literally outside), this cafe was having their 3rd annual bacon festival.
The bacon festival dishes had names that were puns of popular movies like Slumhog Millionaire and Jurrasic Pork. Read more
Yayoi serves up Japanese Teishoku (set meals) within The Galeries shopping centre on the second floor. Yayoi has over 250 locations in Japan! It must be good right?
I like how you can see people eating while you wait. There was quite a line up outside and we waited for about 20-30mins. As a Vancouverite, I found the pricing to be on the steep side, even keeping in mind that tax is included and tips aren’t necessary. Read more
The Sydney Fish Market is the third largest in the world. I’ve never been to any other fish markets before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. You will be seeing posts from my Sydney trip (again) for the next few months! I had saw on Instagram that they had sushi donuts so I was going to get that for sure! I actually went twice because the first time I went, they had sold out of sushi donuts already. The market closes at 4pm and they only had 1 left by 2pm so I had to go back the next day. They are quite busy and there are plenty of tourist there!
The market consists of various vendors selling fresh seafood as well as cooked seafood. I was here for the cooked seafood as it would’ve been too much trouble to cook it myself.
Botanist is one of the newer restaurants in Vancouver and it is located inside the Fairmont Pacific Rim. It has taken over the space where ORU used to be (not that I’ve been there). We arrived before noon so it was still fairly quiet.
There is a bar area as you enter and then you will notice the lush greenery surrounding the dining space. Read more
