Tangram Creamery is one of the newest ice cream stores to open. There is really no shortage of ice cream in Vancouver! Located on Arbutus between 10th and 11th avenue, they are well known for their “cookie cones”, also called langue du chat in French. The Hot Chocolate Festival is on again for the sixth year and after perusing some hot chocolate menus, the Black Magic from Bella Gelateria caught my eye. It’s made with Dark 63% Vanuari chocolate with black sesame paste and matcha whipped cream. The Asian inspired flavours certainly sounded interesting in hot chocolate form!

I was invited to another ChineseBites event at VanVan Izakaya on Robson across from Forage. All the dishes below were shared between 6 people and we tried most of their menu. If you see awkward shadows in my photo, that’s someone else pointing their camera at the same time (or everyone)!
This was the Unagi Kabayakiwith teriyaki sauce. The eel had a nice sweet flavour from the teriyaki sauce and it was tender. I like eel so I approve of this. Continue reading →
