My first time hiking Quarry Rock in Deep Cove was last year and I was glad that it was easy! I’m not much of a hiking person actually but I do want a slight challenge and some exercise so it’s the perfect hike for me! Also, I can use it as an excuse to go eat after! We went over the BC Day long weekend and surprisingly it wasn’t too crowded. I arrived at 10am and we came back down around 12pm after sitting at the top for a bit.
We didn’t plan where to eat beforehand and came across Bluhouse Market & Cafe. Since it looked cute and not too busy, we just decided to go for it. Read more
On my trip to Toronto last November, I was exploring the Kensington area which is a really eclectic looking neighbourhood beside Chinatown. Just think lots of vintage shops and brightly coloured murals everywhere.
This is also where I found Millie Creperie! I had read about it briefly but didn’t make plans to visit but my friend and I happened to pass by so I couldn’t resist going in.
They serve a variety of sweet and savoury crepes and parfaits. We had already had a huge brunch so we just wanted a light snack. Read more
Moii Cafe is a cute crepe and bubble tea cafe on Cambie and Broadway. It was full of people studying or hanging out together. There was even a shelf of old Archie’s comics to read!
I love reading these while in line at the grocery store. It seems really chill in here and I was excited about my crepe because I’ve heard good things about Moii!
I was shopping in Richmond Centre and decided to get something from their newly renovated food court. I still find it amazingly beautiful for a food court. So far the only thing I’ve bought there is gelato from Froshberg though. Today I ventured into something new! Crepes from Crepe De Licious which is actually attached to Froshberg. Okay fine I’m not really venturing anywhere. Next is probably Pinkberry which is right across hahaha All jokes aside, Crepe De Licious offers a variety of sweet and savoury crepes and for reasonable prices too. I had my eye on the New York which had a slice of New York cheesecake in it along with Nutella and strawberries but I didn’t think I could finish the whole thing by myself so I settled on my other go-to favourite: Nutella and Banana! Here they call it Black and White while the Nutella and strawberries is called Black and Red.
I love how their jars of Nutella are extra large! They also use a whole banana too just like Cafe Crepe.
The crepe was drizzled with some Nutella and topped with icing sugar. It was really good with the right amount of banana and Nutella. At Crepe De Licious the crepes are served on a plate or in a box if you order it to go so I felt daintier eating it with a fork and knife instead of just eating it from a cone or something. The texture of the crepe was similar to the ones at Cafe Crepe. I haven’t had that many crepes before so I don’t have much to compare it to. It’s cheaper than Cafe Crepe though for the exact same product so this could be my new go-to crepe place! Not that I had one before. I also heard Moii Cafe had good crepes too so I will check that out soon. =)
It’s so beautiful and sunny in Vancouver! You can tell spring is here with all the cherry blossoms lining the block =)
I stopped by Cafe Crepe while window shopping downtown. They offer a lot of sweet and savoury crepes but of course I had to get a sweet one. I was debating between the Nutella and banana crepe or the dark chocolate and banana crepe. I decided to try the dark chocolate and banana one. They put about 9 pieces of dark chocolate squares onto the crepe and then wait for it to melt and then they slice up a whole banana for it! The dark chocolate was just bitter enough so that you knew it was dark chocolate and the crepe was chewy and soft too. Delicious! While I was waiting for my crepe, they were also handing out samples of the ham and cheese crepe which was also tasty. These crepes are not cheap though and range from $6-10. A banana and a chocolate bar should not cost that much… However, they are fairly big and they do put a lot of filling in it! The person making mine wouldn’t let me take a picture of my crepe being made though. I’m sure the Nutella and banana would have been equally good too. The only other crepes I’ve really had are from Mazazu crepe at the Aberdeen food court and I think these are way better and they have a lot more variety here. There’s also a small sitting area outside Cafe Crepe now so it’s super convenient if you’re shopping and in need of a snack!
My friends and I decided to visit IHOP on Broadway before school started. This location is upstairs right by the 7-11 on Oak street. It looked pretty new and clean compared to the one in Richmond. The service was also quite friendly and prompt. They menu had a lot of options so we spent a long time debating what we should share. They also had a special menu where they had 7 specials all for $8 each.
This was the bacon and cheddar hash brown stack . Mmm hash browns! It came with a choice of two buttermilk waffles or a fruit salad. Naturally since we were at IHOP, my friend opted for the pancakes xD (well under some peer pressure from me…). The cheese and the hollandaise sauce seemed to go quite well with the hash browns! I kinda wished I had ordered this instead haha
Nutella banana crepes with bacon and eggs :) The crepes were hidden under a mountain of whipped cream and covered with some strawberry sauce. It seems like they really don’t skimp on the whipped cream at IHOP! Makes me fat >.< There was a lot going on here so overall it tasted good because it was sweet from the nutella and the strawberry sauces.
The less well presented bacon and eggs.
Chicken Quesadilla. Didn’t try it but it looks pretty good with ample filling.
I think this was the pick a pancake combo. It comes with bacon, eggs, hash browns and your choice of pancakes. Note the lump of whipped cream!
Ok horrible angle here but I think this is another combo with red velvet pancakes!!! They were actually really good and not too sweet.
DESSERT! Crispy strawberry banana cheesecake! :D “Creamy cheesecake layered with caramel and chunks of banana, quick-fried in a flaky pastry tortilla. Topped with cool strawberry topping, fresh slices of banana and whipped topping.” It was really good :D The cheesecake was pretty creamy and smooth. Anything deep fried is good! (This is why I’m fat)
I definitely like this location a lot better than the Richmond one and the pricing is reasonable too.
