Foodgressing was organizing a media tasting on behalf of MagiCream and kindly invited me to go! I had seen a few photos on Instagram but I hadn’t really heard much else about them. They seem to be the only liquid nitrogen ice cream shop not located in downtown. They are in Kerrisdale to be exact. Little did I know, I was about to be impressed.
It’s summer (finally!) and that means that I will be eating lots of ice cream! I can see the long line ups at Bella Gelateria from my office and it gets pretty tempting to go! Well ok I wouldn’t go with the long line ups because I’m impatient but I can check when they are short and then I’ll go. Also, by long line ups, I mean it wraps around the block…
Despite all their gelato awards, I did learn that there was a down side to their gelato.
Mister is the newest liquid nitrogen ice cream place in town. Specifically Yaletown and it’s really the second liquid nitrogen ice cream place we have in Vancouver with the first being Lik N2 Ice Cream. Mister has taken over Sweet Bake Shop’s old spot and it’s just across from the skytrain station.
Their store is very minimalistic looking and sparsely decorated. Their logo is equally simple, just a blue pentagon. Mister currently has four flavours: avocado, creme brule, dark chocolate and lemon FY. Seems like there is space on their menu for more new flavours. Continue reading →
It’s finally warm in Vancouver and that means I’ll be eating a lot of ice cream! LIK N2 Ice Cream is one of the newest ice cream places to open up and they specialize in liquid nitrogen ice cream. They are located next to 7-11 on Robson and Hamilton, beside the library.
Okay this is a quick post on behalf of my foodie friend! I have never been to Blossom Teas before but she used to love this place.
She visited Blossom Teas with her friend and ordered the Mango Pomelo Sago. They found this huge clump of undercooked sago! When she tried to talk to the server about it she said that it was suppose to be like that because it’s cold… so my friend was very disappointed with the response.
Cookies By George is located on the lower level of Royal Centre. I had never really been through Royal Centre before I started working downtown but I’m so glad I discovered Cookies By George!
They have a great variety of cookies (e.g. reverse almond chocolate chunk, chewy ginger, macadamia nut chocolate chunk etc.) and they’re always freshly baked. The cookies are also available as gifts in gift boxes or tins. Food gifts are the best gifts! Continue reading →
On my trip to Toronto last November, I was exploring the Kensington area which is a really eclectic looking neighbourhood beside Chinatown. Just think lots of vintage shops and brightly coloured murals everywhere.
This is also where I found Millie Creperie! I had read about it briefly but didn’t make plans to visit but my friend and I happened to pass by so I couldn’t resist going in.
They serve a variety of sweet and savoury crepes and parfaits. We had already had a huge brunch so we just wanted a light snack. Continue reading →
I used to work near Sweetery Cafe but I never ended up blogging about it so here it is! It’s in between the Olympic Village skytrain station and Olympic Village. The area is industrial but new restaurants and breweries have been popping up as well as more condos. They’re only open Monday to Friday though and I see conflicting times on when they’re closed but I’m pretty sure they close at 5pm ( EDIT: they now open on Saturdays too! Check out Foodology’s post here.) In addition to dessert, Sweetery also serves soups and sandwiches for lunch. Their lunch special can be found on their Facebook page.
Instead of serving their Carrot Loafin slices, they come in these mini loaves with cream cheese frosting on top. This was a good version with walnuts and raisins and the inside was moist. The amount of frosting was also generous. Continue reading →
Glowbal Grill used to be in Yaletown but now they have relocated to the new Telus Gardens building on Georgia and Seymour. I’ve never been to their old location but the new one is really fancy looking! Like somewhere you would go to impress someone. All the waitresses are wearing similar uniforms and in the dim lighting, they all looked the same!
The Rose Sangria caught my eye with pears and strawberries as well as rose wine, peach liqueur, apple juice, mint and tonic water. Continue reading →
