Bay Vista-Desserts Galore

After watching a movie at Westfield Parramatta, we went to Bay Vista for some dessert. This place was super busy on a Saturday night and there was loud music playing. You get a seat and then once you’re ready, you order at the counter. You can also help yourself to water there as well. The menu is very extensive covering everything from cakes, pancakes, waffles, crepes, ice cream and drinks.

We decided to get the Cool Ibiza ice cream bowl with mango, passionfruit and vanilla ice cream, peaches, pineapple, whipped cream, passionfruit sauce and yogurt chips.  Continue reading →

Monplaisir Macarons

Disclaimer: I was invited to a tasting by Monplaisir Macarons. All food was complimentary but opinions are my own.

MonPlaisir Delicacies Macarons

Monplaisir Macarons is based in Calgary but the owner Jean-Marc Mons and his wife are hoping to expand into the Vancouver market so they set up a tasting event at the Best Western Plus Chateau. The macarons are made with 100% natural ingredients and are certified gluten-free. They do not use any animal gelatin, preservatives, additives or trans fat. Jean-Marc’s goal was to make the macarons as authentic as possible.

Flavours available are: Tiramisu, Nutella, Lemon, Passion, Pistachio, Honey Lavender, Caramel, French Vanilla, Creme Brulee, Raspberry, Red Velvet, White Chocolate and Cookies and Cream.

Trafiq-The Place for Cake Lovers

I was having some serious cake cravings and I remembered seeing a bunch of Instagram posts on Trafiq so it was about time I went back. I’m pretty sure Instagram feeds all my cravings since I’m easily influenced. I noticed they had a “new” salted caramel cake that had positive reviews so I hoped that it was available! Trafiq is located on Main and 26th and they also close at 6pm everyday so it’s hard to visit on weekdays if you have work.

Hot Chocolate Festival-Forty Ninth Parallel Cafe & Lucky’s Doughnuts

The hot chocolate festival is back again this year for the 7th time with 29 participants and 61 flavours to try! I had a craving for Lucky’s Doughnuts and Forty Ninth Parallel Cafe is also participating in the hot chocolate festival so it was the best of both worlds. Their hot chocolate is also reasonably priced as well. The festival runs from Jan. 19 to Feb. 14, 2017.

Sydney Eats: Black Star Pastry’s Famous Watermelon Cake

I was not planning to go to Black Star Pastry at the beginning of my trip but I happened upon one of their newer locations in a Japanese bookstore called Kinokuniya in The Galeries (a shopping centre). The watermelon cake is their most popular item and it’s gorgeous! Perfect for Instagram photos. ;)

Black Star Pastry

Black Star Pastry is located right at the entrance of the bookstore. The bookstore is massive and sells tons of cool stuff akin to Chapters here. For example, they were selling the gold crown thing that Sailor Moon has on her forehead and I got kinda giddy over it.  Continue reading →

Baker’s Krate-Subscription Dessert Box Review

My friend kindly sent me the Baker’s Krate box last month for my birthday and boy was I excited to receive it! To be fair, it was sitting at the post office for a few days before I went to pick it up because I missed it at my house…

Baker's Krate

Baker’s Krate selects different hand-crafted baked goods from all across Canada to ship to you every month. Sounds delicious already right? The treats they selected for August were right up my alley!

Sydney Eats: Matcha Mochi Pancakes at Passion Tree

Passion Tree is located in Chatswood and it’s like a big shopping mall/shopping area on the North Shore of Sydney. I must say their shopping malls are really nice!!! There are also a lot of small cafes in the middle of the mall for people to eat at while shopping. They seemed like nice cafes, not like Starbucks or something. Also, I noticed that some places even show how many kilojoules/calories are in each food item!

Trees Organic Coffee-National Cheesecake Day

Did you know there’s a food holiday for every day of the year? Sadly there aren’t enough restaurants that celebrate them or it would be too costly. For National Cheesecake Day this year (July 28th), Trees Organic Coffee offered cheesecakes for 50% off!

Trees Organic Coffee

They are voted Vancouver’s best cheesecake and they have a few locations around Vancouver. I went to the one on Granville Street beside Waterfront station. I love discounts/freebies (especially when it comes to food) and it’s close to where I work so I had to go! I thought there would be some crazy line ups but it was pretty tame. The wait was about 15 minutes or so. This is in contrast to that time I waited for an hour at IHOP for National Pancake Day (NEVER AGAIN).

Popbar-Gelato on a Stick

Popbar opened a few months ago and has taken over the spot where Beard Papa’s used to be, next to Superstore in Metrotown. I must say that I was not initially too excited about the concept, I mean I love ice cream/gelato and cold confections but for some reason, it didn’t seem to have the “wow” factor?

Popbar

I saw on Facebook that they had a promotion where if you liked their page you get 30% off so that’s what prompted my visit. Or should I say, I “popped” in? ;) The promotion ended on July 31st but maybe they’ll have more in the future. Continue reading →

Sydney Eats-Doughnut Time!

Doughnut Time seems to be everywhere in Sydney! I’ve passed by five locations and I just had to give them a try! These babies are huge! It’s like a doughnut meal! The shops are really small with just a window displaying the sugary goods and you just take it to go. With a neon doughnut sign on the front of the retro green shop, they’re hard to miss.Doughnut Time
