We had a going away lunch for my co worker at Palings Kitchen and Bar. It’s located in the Ivy precinct near Wynyard station and it was my first time there. Palings is located on the first floor and the restaurant has some covered areas but the middle area is open air. Interestingly enough, the menu features western dishes as well as Thai dishes.
We started off with some Friesto share. These were perfectly crispy and the portion was huge! It came with some aioli for dipping and we devoured this in no time. Continue reading →
Nightingale is Chef David Hawksworth’s second restaurant venture. Located on W. Hastings and Burrard Street, this restaurant has a less formal vibe and you might not even notice it if you pass by. I’ve never been to Hawksworth (situated inside Hotel Georgia) so this won’t be a comparison post.
My co-workers and I came for a spontaneous Friday lunch and they managed to squeeze us in. The menu does change frequently so you might you get exactly what I had (e.g. sides may differ seasonally). Some items are gluten free but you’ll have to check with your server because it’s not indicated on the menu.
Happy Halloween! Can’t wait for the on sale candy tomorrow! I’ve seen Feastro the Rolling Bistro truck around the Coal Harbour area and finally decided to try it. Specifically, their dirty fries caught my eye. Feastro serves tacos, sandwiches and some sides.
Disclaimer: All food was complimentary but opinions are my own
My beauty blogger friend Carmen (Curiously Carmen) invited me to be her plus one to the Caliburger media tasting earlier this month. I had actually never heard of Caliburger before so I wasn’t sure what to expect. They are located on Thurlow and Robson in the same small complex as Guu. This is their second location in Canada.
I know most people have fries as a side to their meal but for me, I like to have the fries as the main course. I saw that Frites Granville had an exciting selection of gourmet fries so I had to check it out.
Some many appetizing options like the Pad Thai fries and Okonomi fries! It’s nice that they have pictures on the wall to help you decide (or make it harder to decide if you’re like me). Continue reading →
I’ve passed by Milestones on Broadway and Cambie a lot and it always looked nice but I’d never been inside before. Okay to be fair I haven’t been in a few years anyway. The restaurant is on the second floor and It’s actually really open and spacious inside with the usual dim lighting and many TV’s with sports games on. My friend had a gift card that she needed to use so she invited me to come along with her.
I went on a Tuesday and OriginalBellini’s are 50% off! A classic, sweet girly drink for me with not much alcohol! They also have an Ultimate Bellini which is 3 ounces instead of 2. Continue reading →
My co-workers were craving burgers so we decided to hit up Romer’s Burger Bar in Yaletown. They have three locations: River District, Kitsilano and Yaletown. The burgers at Romer’s do not come with fries so you will have to add them separately to your order. The fries come in an individual size or in a shareable size.
This was the Monty Mushroom Burger made with a hand-crafted patty, carmelized onions, sauteed portobello mushrooms, her garlic Boursin, and baby arugula. Each burger is also accompanied with a banana pepper if you want to add some spice to your burger. Continue reading →
My friends were craving fish and chips so we decided to go to Pajo’s in Steveston. They actually have two locations in Steveston, one is on the wharf on Bayview street and one is at Garry Point Park. We went to the Garry Point Park location.
I like how they give you these trays to carry your food to your table! Sadly this was not our order. Continue reading →
I haven’t been to IKEA since their strike was over and I keep hearing about their meatballs so now was my chance to try them! The restaurant is on the second floor and it is a cafeteria style dining area.
Strike has taken over the spot where Vera’s used to be (in the corner by the washrooms). So far no one has really been successful in this sport but hopefully Strike will be here to stay. Strike is a Taiwanese restaurant and they have a location on Garden City and one on Broadway. This location in particular specializes in Taiwanese sandwiches.
