UYU Ice Cream

UYU Ice Cream opened over the summer and they’ve been getting rave reviews! I’ve seen them all over my Instagram feed with their weekly rotation of flavours. I actually went after I ate lunch at Tacofino (despite being super full already). I couldn’t help it since it was like two blocks away! #foodieproblems

The store is pretty minimalistic looking and according to what I’ve read, they didn’t have any seating at all before but when I was there, they seem to have added two small benches along the walls now.

I’ve seen a lot of flavours that I would like to try and on the day I went they had Earl Grey! Yay! It’s probably one of my favourite flavours of anything!

720 Sweets-The Soft Serve Craze Continues

Disclaimer: All food was complimentary but opinions are my own

720 Sweets sent me an invite to try some of their soft serve last month and even before I went, my Instagram was flooded with pictures of their fancy looking soft serve surrounded by dry ice. I love ice cream so I was super excited for this!

The store is located on Broadway and Blenheim and the interior is narrow but has about 10 seats at the front.

Rooster’s Ice Cream

Rooster’s Ice Cream opened over the summer and being the ice cream fanatic that I am, I had to check it out.  Sorry this post is a bit late since it’s fall already! This year has just flown by!

The store is located near VCC on Broadway and it’s easy to miss if you’re not looking for it. The inside is sparsely decorated with some local paintings on the wall and there’s only two tables inside. The concept is pretty similar to the ever popular Earnest Ice Cream and Rain or Shine.

Rain or Shine Ice Cream-Taco Tuesday!

I’ve seen lots of pictures from Taco Tuesday and I finally went! They have a new location on Cambie and 18th which is a lot closer to me too. With the warm weather lately, I’ve been eating ice cream non-stop! I am so thankful I’m not lactose intolerant!!!

Rain or Shine Ice Cream They have this super cute book on their front counter! Rain or Shine has some seasonal flavours as well as some staples. Continue reading →

International Summer Night Market 2015

Disclaimer: All food was complimentary but opinions are my own

Over the weekend I was invited by ChineseBites to the International Summer Night Market (the one near IKEA). On our way there, we almost ran over a super cute bunny as it dashed across the road! Don’t worry it survived! Okay back to the night market…

My boyfriend and I arrived around 8pm and the night market was dead compared to the other night market (the duck one). There were hardly any vendors and there weren’t that many food vendors either. It was pretty sad since this was the original night market that I used to go to but I guess the competition has gotten tough. On the bright side, this means literally no lines ups and no crowds. I also heard the food is a bit cheaper here and no entry fee either.

Prepare for lots of pictures!

Argo Cafe

Argo Cafe was featured in the Food Network’s You Gotta Eat Here. The outside looks pretty run down and the inside is similar but it’s a busy local diner. Their daily specials change everyday and you can find them on their website.

Argo Cafe There weren’t any booth seats left so we sat at this counter here. The diner is small so there were a lot of things stashed at the counter. Continue reading →

Soft Peaks: Organic Soft Serve

Guess who finally made it to Soft Peaks? ME!!! I swear everybody has blogged about it already so here are my thoughts.

Soft Peaks is located in Gastown and also conveniently near the new Bao Down that I have yet to check out! Soft Peaks makes their soft serve with Avalon organic milk which is why their price is higher. Organic anything is expensive!

Beard Papa’s-Waffles!

I am still obsessed with waffles so I was ecstatic when I saw pictures of heart shaped waffles from Beard Papa’s new location! They closed down their stall in Richmond Centre and now they have an actual store in the same complex as London Drugs on No. 3 Road.

The space inside is bright and clean and would be a great place to hang out with friends. There’s also an ample amount of seating as well. With their floor to ceiling windows, it’s easy to entice passerby’s to come in!

Beard Papa's

This was the Green Tea and Matcha Waffle and I’ve seen a lot of pictures of it since Beard Papa’s has opened. I loved how they’re in heart shapes and they were nice and chewy! I would totally come back for this.

Beard Papa's The Green Tea Fondant was not as good though. They display it in their fridge case and then they warm it up for you after you order it so that the fondant is melty although it really was just lukewarm. The cake part was strangely dense and chewy but sorta spongey? The green tea lava inside had a strong green tea flavour as advertised. The cake texture was not appetizing though so I wouldn’t get this again.

In addition to their signature cream puffs, they also have some other desserts in a display case now like small cakes and tiramisu.
