I wish we had more cafes that served brunch like this in Vancouver! And I mean all day everyday! Le Monde is a quick walk from Central Station in the Surry Hills area. Their matcha hotcakes are very insta-worthy!
We didn’t want to wait for a table so we sat at this small “bar” area at the front of the cafe. Read more
While shopping in the CBD, I came across Fujipan and I loved baked goods so I popped in to check it out. Super happy that I did because there were so many delicious Asian buns in there! Fujipan is located close to World Square Centre.
Look how cute this is! Who can resist Totoro?! Someone needs to bring this to Vancouver. They would be insta-famous. Read more
Passion Tree is located in Chatswood and it’s like a big shopping mall/shopping area on the North Shore of Sydney. I must say their shopping malls are really nice!!! There are also a lot of small cafes in the middle of the mall for people to eat at while shopping. They seemed like nice cafes, not like Starbucks or something. Also, I noticed that some places even show how many kilojoules/calories are in each food item!
As a huge matcha fan, I put Chanoma Cafe on my list of Sydney eats. Located inside Regent Arcade, this place has an extensive dessert menu with all the matcha treats that you can think of from matcha parfaits to soft serves and floats, there’s sure to be something to satisfy your matcha desires.
Despite all the enticing treats, I was drawn to the large sign advertising Matcha and Azuki (red bean) Soft Serve. Once upon a time, I hated red bean! Hard to believe how my tastes have changed. This soft serve was soft indeed but did not melt too fast and wasn’t too sweet either. The portion was generous and satisfied my sweet tooth. Yum! Read more

The Hot Chocolate Festival is on again for the sixth year and after perusing some hot chocolate menus, the Black Magic from Bella Gelateria caught my eye. It’s made with Dark 63% Vanuari chocolate with black sesame paste and matcha whipped cream. The Asian inspired flavours certainly sounded interesting in hot chocolate form!
After hiking at Quarry Rock in Deep Cove, we stopped by the Coffee Bun cafe at Lonsdale Quay on our way back to Vancouver. It’s near the bus loop and next to Starbucks. The cafe is small but feels homely.
The coffee buns are baked fresh everyday with fresh dough. Read more
