Botanist is one of the newer restaurants in Vancouver and it is located inside the Fairmont Pacific Rim. It has taken over the space where ORU used to be (not that I’ve been there). We arrived before noon so it was still fairly quiet.
There is a bar area as you enter and then you will notice the lush greenery surrounding the dining space. Read more
Cafe L’Orangerie is tucked away in a small plaza on 73rd and Hudson St. The location might sound obscure but they’ve been in business for a while now and if you’ve tried their Japanese spaghetti, you’ll probably want to come back for more.
My friends and I met up for an early dinner before watching Logan. There were already quite a few tables occupied at 5:30pm. They do take reservations! Read more
Marine Gateway at Marine Drive Station is almost in full swing now as many shops are open. This includes two restaurants: Pink Elephant Thai and Dublin Crossing, which is an Irish pub. I’ve never been to an Irish pub before or well I don’t really go to pubs in general… so I wanted to try this one out since it looked nice and new.
They have a small patio area outside. It would be hard to find free parking here though unless you’re willing to walk a bit. Read more

I attended my first Zomato meetup last month at Shaughnessy Restaurant in Van Duesen Gardens. Since it was almost time for the Festival of Lights, the restaurant was already decorated with lights and I felt a lot more festive already! I didn’t really know too much about Shaughnessy Restaurant nor had I ever thought about dining there before. In fact, I feel like it’s a bit hidden away. Also, for some reason… I had the impression that it was for older people?
For my drink, I went with the Shaughnessy Lemonade. Mostly because it had the word lemonade in it. It also had rosemary infused bourbon, chartreuse, and ginger beer. Read more
My friend was celebrating her birthday at Cafe Salade de Fruits and I’ve always wanted to try it! It’s on 7th between Fir and Granville and it seems to be the only restaurant on the block. They have a small patio space on the sidewalk but the inside of the restaurant is small. We sat right next to the kitchen counter so we could see all the delicious food coming and going! I also liked how they have a large painting of TinTin and his dog on the wall.
Started off with some warm complimentary bread! They give you pre-packaged butter and it’s buried under the pile of bread. Read more
My friend was moving to Taiwan for her new teaching job so we were going to eat with her before she left. We decided on Lips Resto since it just opened and it had nice pictures. The restaurant was empty except for one table when we arrived at 7pm. Turns out we didn’t even need a reservation. It’s never a good sign to have an empty restaurant! Even a new one. We appreciated the nice dining space though.
So my friends wanted Oysters so we ordered 6 served with horseradish, fennel and dill slaw. I forgot what the two sauces on the side were. I literally forgot right after the waiter said it. Oops. We thought the oysters were really small. Read more
