The last time I was at Yuu Japanese Tapas was quite a few years ago. I took my parents here for dinner to check out their “new” location as they had expanded into another larger storefront but still in Continental Square.
My dad had the Chicken Cutlet Rice with Egg and Onion which came with miso soup and a small tray of side dishes including Japanese pickle, edamame and marinated bean sprouts. The chicken was very tender but I thought the sauce could’ve been stronger? It wasn’t very flavourful to me. They were very generous with the portion of rice here. Continue reading →
Yayoi serves up Japanese Teishoku (set meals) within The Galeries shopping centre on the second floor. Yayoi has over 250 locations in Japan! It must be good right?
I like how you can see people eating while you wait. There was quite a line up outside and we waited for about 20-30mins. As a Vancouverite, I found the pricing to be on the steep side, even keeping in mind that tax is included and tips aren’t necessary. Continue reading →
Temaki Sushi is located on Broadway and Arbutus and down the street from BC Sushi. I’ve only been there once many years ago and my friend suggested we come here for a group dinner. We had 7 people so we had a nice booth to ourselves. I saw that the reviews were good on Zomato so I was interested in trying it again but it fell short of expectations.
We started off by sharing two orders of the Assorted Tempura. Each piece was hot, crispy and not too greasy. This came with 4 pieces of prawn and 3 pieces of vegetable. Continue reading →
We were looking for a Japanese restaurant for our Friday lunch and we settled on Aki Japanese Restaurant in Coal Harbour because they had good reviews on Urbanspoon (or Zomato now). Their lunch hours are 11:30am-2pm and last call is at 1:30pm. Their dark red booth seats are certainly eye catching and the restaurant looks pretty nice inside.
