Salt Meats Cheese is the best name ever for an Italian restaurant. They have been expanding their locations and just opened one in Cronulla. I went to the one opposite the Broadway shopping centre. I made a reservation for Saturday night but when we showed up they actually weren’t that busy. We decided to share a pizza and a pasta so that we could try both.
I swear this was the Chorizo Pizza but I don’t see it on the menu anymore. It had a tomato sauce base with roasted red peppers, fior di latte and chorizo. The crust was thin with a nice chewiness to it. It was a good pizza but probably not the best I’ve ever had. Continue reading →
For Valentine’s Day this year, Bondi Pizza was having a special deal where you can order any 2 pizzas, pastas, or salads for $49.90 and you also get a chocolate fondue as well. With the deal, the fondue is basically free since most dishes there are around $25. The restaurant is located on Church street amidst a bunch of other restaurants. My boyfriend has been to Bondi Pizza a few times so I was interested in trying it. Also, I signed up for their rewards program so you can get a free pizza for your birthday! I love birthday freebies. :)
Nightingale is Chef David Hawksworth’s second restaurant venture. Located on W. Hastings and Burrard Street, this restaurant has a less formal vibe and you might not even notice it if you pass by. I’ve never been to Hawksworth (situated inside Hotel Georgia) so this won’t be a comparison post.
My co-workers and I came for a spontaneous Friday lunch and they managed to squeeze us in. The menu does change frequently so you might you get exactly what I had (e.g. sides may differ seasonally). Some items are gluten free but you’ll have to check with your server because it’s not indicated on the menu.
My friends and I were in need of something to do for Easter Weekend and someone brought up Pizzeria Ludica. I’ve been there before but never blogged about it. They are known for their extensive board game selection. We are talking about hundreds of games!
They are located right outside Stadium-Chinatown Station, beside T&T. On the day we went, they were having plumbing issues and had to close early (hence the plumbing truck outside). I remembered that their pizza wasn’t so great before so I had low expectations. Continue reading →
Happy Good Friday! Hope you all have a great long weekend!
Trattoria Italian Kitchen in Burnaby is right across from Crystal Mall inside Element Hotel. The Glowbal Group bakery Nosh also has a location in the lobby of the hotel. I’ve driven past before and it wasn’t obvious to me that it was a hotel though. I also noticed there was a new Dinesty next door!
We started with the Beef Carpaccio served with grainy mustard aioli, grana padano, arugula, pickled onions and forno bread. Beef was tender, not chewy and the acidic flavours brightened up the dish. Continue reading →
Glowbal Grill used to be in Yaletown but now they have relocated to the new Telus Gardens building on Georgia and Seymour. I’ve never been to their old location but the new one is really fancy looking! Like somewhere you would go to impress someone. All the waitresses are wearing similar uniforms and in the dim lighting, they all looked the same!
The Rose Sangria caught my eye with pears and strawberries as well as rose wine, peach liqueur, apple juice, mint and tonic water. Continue reading →
I finally had the chance to go to Le Crocodile for my boyfriend’s birthday after hearing RAVE reviews about it. Of course I suggested it ;) I couldn’t get a reservation for the weekend of the week that I called so I had to make it for the following weekend.
We were dining at 6pm so the restaurant was still quite empty when we arrived. Continue reading →
Disclaimer: All food was complimentary but opinions are my own
I was invited to try Spaghetei and they specialize in Japanese Style spaghetti (keep reading for a special coupon!!!). This is actually their second location and the first location outside of Japan.
They have a Happy Hour special which is between 11:45am-3pm aka lunch time! All pastas are $9.80 instead of the usual $12-13 so lunch time is a good time to try them out if you’re in the area or working nearby.
I haven’t been to IKEA since their strike was over and I keep hearing about their meatballs so now was my chance to try them! The restaurant is on the second floor and it is a cafeteria style dining area.
